Tiny Tots (6 week program)

Do you have a child born in 2019 or 2020? You might like to consider our Tiny Tots program. We ran our first Tiny Tots program in 2019 – it was well received and we’ve offered the program ever since. The 2023/24 season 6-week program will run on Saturday mornings, from 28 October to 2 December, arriving at 9.15am (start activities at 9.30am) to approx. 10.30am

Senior athletes

Athletics does not finish once you reach u17s. For those intested in continuing with athletics, you can register with Queanbeyan Athletics and compete with the team at the regular Athletics ACT meets.

Active Kids voucher

We are an approved provider for the NSW Government Active Kids Voucher. Please add the voucher during the registration process – when chosing payment you can add the Active Kids voucher prior to finalising payment.

Parents

QLAC is a totally voluntary organisation. We cannot operate without the assistance of parents each week fulfilling the many and varied duties required. These include setting up for the meet; managing an age group; recording results; working in the canteen; to name just a few. Whatever your experience, don’t feel scared about putting your hand up and ‘giving it a go’. Have a look at parent volunteer and how to help. There is plenty of information available across our website to help understand different roles.

Family, Fun and Fitness

Queanbeyan Little Athletics Centre (QLAC), also known as Queanbeyan Lightning, is  for:

Family – Parents assisting with activities. There’s more information about being a parent volunteer, how to help and get involved. AND WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP OUR CLUB ALIVE!
Fun – Emphasis is on individual improvement rather than winning, so we talk Personal Bests for everyone.
Fitness – Athletes are involved in a range of activities to improve their fitness.

QLAC is affiliated with Little Athletics ACT (LAACT). This means that QLAC athletes can compete against other clubs in the ACT region at major events to gain more experience or just to meet up with other athletes. LAACT publishes a regional calendar .

Last season QLAC  had more than 200 Little Athletes at Wright Park, many Personal Bests (PBs), parent helpers (essential) and a number of club records broken. We look forward to seeing everyone back for the new season.

You can use the below chart to check what age group your Little Athlete is in this season.

And during the season we will publish meet photos to our Facebook page – follow us there!

Financing our operations

QLAC is committed to keeping registration fees and uniform costs as low as possible so that all children can take part. To achieve this aim, parents run a canteen and fundraisers to support the costs of affiliation (about 3/4 of each registration payment goes on affiliation).
