Commencing 8 Feb 2010 training for Under 6 - 10  will be run from 4:30 - 5:30pm and training for Under 11 -17 will run from 5:30 - 6:30pm. Our enthusiastic throws coach, Marnie McPherson will conduct training on discus on 8 Feb and 8 March, training of Turbo and Javelin on 15 Feb, and training on Shot Put on 22 Feband 15 March.

Coaching opportunities

The ACT Branch of the Australian Track and Field Coaches Association is conducting a series of coaching clinics over the forthcoming months.  These clinics will be conducted on the dates below from 10:00am to 12:00 midday.

20 September 2009 – Sprints and Hurdles

25 October 2009 – Horizontal Jumps

29 November 2009 – Endurance including Steeplechase and walks

Cost is $5 per athlete per clinic, which includes entry to the AIS.

Coaches are invited to come along with their athletes and participate in discussions with the lead coach on his/her coaching methods and processes.  It is hoped that such an inter-active coaching clinic will assist other coaches to gain an insight into alternative coaching methods and processes. In addition to the coaching clinics, Alan Bishop has made himself available prior to each to each High Noon Meet to coach athletes on how to use starting blocks.

AIS use by the public

Members of the public may use the AIS track from 3,30pm to 7pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Cost is $4.50 per adult and $3.00 Concession. You must obtain an entry ticket from the AIS Pool Reception before entering the track area. More information can be obtained by phoning 6214 1111.
