Saturday 30 January - the 2010 Australian Athletics Cup
The Australia Cup is a team competition conducted over 5 individual events plus a relay for both Men and Women. ACT Little Athletics will have a team of ten (5 boys and 5 girls) U14 age athletes competing at this competition against other Little Athletics state teams. Volunteers are required for a range of administrative and support services duties over three (3) days. If you would like to be a member of our Volunteer Team please complete the attached form and return to Neil Boden at nboden@iprimus.com.au by cob Friday 22 January 2010. Neil can be contacted on 6242 4038 (home after 7.00pm), or 6249 9428 (work from 5 January onwards).

BBQ and Canteen roster
Parents are required to assist with cooking on the BBQ and preparation in the canteen from 8.30am each Saturday morning. Each age group is assigned a week and competition for that age group will not commence until parents have fronted up to help. Age group to assist for the next few weeks are

Coaches training
Please see the attached flyer about the Level 1 coaching course to be run 21-22 November. ACTLAA will reimburse half of the cost of this course and QLAC will reimburse the remainder if you make a two -year commitment with the club to assist with activities.

IGA docket competition has commenced
If you shop at IGA please bring your dockets along to our Competition days and drop them in the box. Last year QLAC won $3500 due to the great support from Karabar IGA who allowed us to place boxes at the end of each aisle in the supermarket. Karabar IGA are supporting us again this year and we need helpers to add up the dockets for each month. If you can help please let Marnie McPherson know.
Trans Tasman competition for U11 & U12s
The Trans Tasman is for athletes in the U11 and U12 age groups, from both NSW and Auckland. Every second year, a team from NSW, travels to Auckland for the Trans Tasman Tour.On alternate years, a team from Auckland travels to Sydney.This season the Trans Tasman Challenge is will take place in Auckland, January 2010.
The Trans Tasman Tour usually takes place over 10 days, during which children get the opportunity to meet with people of another country and learn about their customs, as well as take part in several athletic competitions, culminating in the Trans Tasman Challenge.
The Trans Tasman Trials, for selection to the Trans Tasman Team, will take place on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at The Crest Athletics Field, Bass Hill. Entries close on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Briefing sessions will be held prior to the Trials. The events offered are 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus.

Please Become a D Level Official
ACTLAA have updated the D Level Officials Guide. We urge all parents to familiarise themselves with this guide as it contains basic rules and tips on measuring, timing and conducting events. The more knowledge our volunteer officials (parents) have, the fairer it is for all our athletes.
If you wish to sit your D Level exam to become a D Level Qualified Official as deemed by ACTLAA, please see Leo or Linda Vredenbregt who will explain what you need to do and supply you with the D Level Officials guide and exam paper. It is not a difficult exam, its an open book multi choice format and the pass mark has been set at 75%. It will greatly assist you understand how sites are and should be run. Understanding the competition rules will help you to give your little athletes some very helpful hints on how to perform better.
