We are currently working to redesign our uniform. Any member who does not have a white/green QLAC shirt should wear a plain white tshirt until new uniforms are available.
Uniforms
The QLAC competition uniform is a top with the QLAC logo printed on the front at top left combined with bottle green shorts/leggings, or black if bottle green is not available. Athletes can choose from:
– white t-shirt with bottle green sleeves
– singlet with bottle green sleeve and neck trim
– crop top with bottle green sleeve and neck trim.
Tiny Tots can wear either the QLAC t-shirt or a plain white t-shirt.
Following registration each athlete receives a cloth registration number and an age patch with the Coles sponsorship on the top. These patches are sewn or pinned onto the QLAC competition shirt.
– The small age patch refers to the athlete’s age group and should be sewn onto the top right hand side of their shirt.
– The large patch is the athletes ACT Little Athletics Association (ACTLAA) registration number which is also used by QLAC for recording purposes. The large patch should be sewn or pinned across the middle of the front of the athlete’s shirt.
Athletes competing in any ACTLAA or QLAC carnival MUST have correct patches on their shirts, or they may not be able to compete.

Tops for the 2022/23 season will be available for purchase FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF COMPETITION SETUP on Saturday mornings. Payment by EFTPOS is preferred.
Bottoms can be purchased from local clothing outlets.

Footwear
QLAC has a small supply of second hand waffles and spikes available for purchase at the canteen – prices vary depending on the shoes, but range from $10-$20. These are sold as a fundraiser for the club – donations of your outgrown, good quality shoes are very welcome.
Fully enclosed footwear is compulsory for all athletes competing in all events at ACTLAA, QLAC and other Little Athletics Centre competitionsin.
U6 to U10 age groups may not wear athletic spikes in any event on any surface. They can use waffle shoes though – these are specialised running shoes with rubber lugs, or flexible protrusions, rather than metal spikes.
U11 and U12 may wear athletic spikes in laned track events only (50m, 70m, 100m, 200m, 400m) and for javelin, long jump, triple jump and high jump.
U13 to U17 can use athletic spikes in unlaned running events (800m, 1500m) except walks, and for javelin, long jump, triple jump and high jump.
All athletic spikes must be worn with all holes filled with a complete set of spikes, with no more than two blanks/slugs installed.
Spikes cannot be worn outside the ‘field of play’ unless the spikes are suitably covered. So it’s best to carry them to the start of an event and remove them at the end of the event.
The maximum length for spikes on a grass track is 12mm. The maximum length on a synthetic track is 7mm. The maximum length for field events (long jump, triple jump, high jump, javelin) is 9mm.
Wearing spikes for distance events may not be the best for young athletes as they offer very little, if any, cushioning and require the wearer to run with good mechanics so as not to injure themselves using a heel toe landing pattern.
No athlete may wear football boots or cleats in any event.
Spikes are defined as any athletic shoe that has the ability to take metal spikes or with sharp plastic or rigid protrusions. The shoe is still regarded as a spike even if the metal spikes have been removed. “Rigid protrusions” includes materials such as metal, plastic or compounds that are capable of penetrating or marking the skin of an athlete.
Christmas tree or pyramid spikes are the only ones allowed when at the A.I.S.
