Event Format:
This competition is similar to the heptathlon and decathlon at the Olympics (but a little less demanding!). Athletes in the U8-U17 age groups are eligible to compete. Competitors enter 4 or 5 events depending on age group, with points awarded according to performances. The overall point score winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) will be recognised.
Athletes compete in 4 (U8 – U12) or 5 (U13 – U17) events.
Athletes must compete in all of their Age Group events in order to be eligible for a medal. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd best overall point scorers in each age group.
Athletes must compete in their approved Centre Uniform, complete with current age patch and registration number. The wearing of footwear is mandatory.
The wearing of running spikes is permitted only in the Under 9 and above age groups, however the wearing of spikes is not permitted in non-laned track events (i.e. 800m) for any age group.
All track events will be time trials only and competitors will be allowed three (3) trials only in all field events unless there are more than 20 competitors where two (2) only will be allowed.
If the weather intervenes, the Carnival Manager and the Track or Field Referees have discretion to cancel or reschedule, over the period of the Carnival or cancel any/all event/s.
Every endeavour will be made to notify Centres of the cancellation of all events as soon as possible via the LAACT website.
Certificates will be provided to all participating athletes listing their performances in each event.
Only athletes who have registered for the Carnival through their Centre will be permitted to participate.
