Registration is easy
Little Athletics is available to children aged between 5 and 17 years. Age groups for the 2019-20 season are based on how old the athlete is as of the 31st December 2019. From the 1st January 2020, an athlete must have turned 5 before being able to register.
Registration works best online, and while there are a fair few questions, all your answers help us run our club for the benefit of the Little Athletes. Online registration opens 15 August and is available through the season. If your Little Athlete can only join in for the 2020 part of the season the registration fee is discounted by 50%. You can register online through the Little Athletics ACT (LAACT) system here. The LAACT system is used across the ACT and region.Sign up now! This will take you to the Little Athletics ACT online registration system. Registration options are for:
- RE-REGISTRATION (Individual Member)
- NEW REGISTRATIONS (Individual Member)
- FAMILY REGISTRATIONS (Existing & New Families)
When you have completed the registration of your child, you will receive an email receipt. Print that receipt and bring it with proof of age (if your Little Athlete is new to our system) to Registration Day to collect your child’s Registration Pack with their unique Little Athletic’s registration number, information, and QLAC patches. You can buy your Little Athlete’s competition shirt at the same time. That’s where the number goes and it must stay with that athlete – it is their personal number. The shirt is also the uniform and must be worn at ACT competitions.
Little Athletics clubs are organised and run by parents to benefit their children. We all want them to thrive, to take on new personal challenges and succeed, to develop physically as well as mentally and emotionally. And we want them in a supportive and well-structured environment.
The registration fee for your child covers a number of costs. The largest component of the fee ($90) goes to Little Athletics ACT as part of the affiliation requirements. For this, QLAC receives the online registration system, athlete insurance, insurance against loss of equipment, training for coaches and officials, and the opportunity to contribute. This also allows all our athletes to compete in the regional and state competitions, and should they be very successful (and we have athletes who are) they can go on to national and international competitions. We also have a fee of $4.40 per athlete to use the online results system, equipment costs on the field, printing costs for the handbooks, and more. Our margins for viability are quite fine and parents helping on the committee and on the field are the reason the club continues.
It’s important to remember that if your athlete’s registration is not complete, and paid for, they will not be covered by insurance, they will not receive their unique registration number that allows their personal records to be kept by the timing system, and they will not be able to compete as a QLAC Little Athlete in regional competitions.
